What Is Ellacor?
Ellacor is a game-changing skin rejuvenation treatment for skin laxity and moderate to severe wrinkles. Designed by Cytrellis, an innovative medical technology company, the Ellacore micro coring device is a medical-grade treatment that delivers transformative results.
Micro coring works by using tiny specialized coring needles to remove small amounts of skin in the area being treated. This stimulates a robust healing response to close the micro-wounds. The healing process also stimulates a major increase in collagen and elastin production.
By harnessing your body’s natural ability to heal itself, Ellacor promotes skin rejuvenation from the inside out. And although the device punctures and removes skin, the size and precision of the hollow needles allow the treatment to take maximum effect without resulting in scarring.
At less than 0.5mm in diameter, the Ellacor micro coring needles are below the scarring threshold. So, the only lingering effects should be the lasting improvements to the overall appearance of your skin.
The micro coring procedure targets epidermal and dermal tissue, and the depth of the treatment can be adjusted to best support your skin needs and treatment goals. The amount of skin removed can also be adjusted with precision.

Preparing for Ellacor in the Bay Area
Your Entre Nous medical provider will walk you through what to expect and how to prepare for your treatment, but here are a few general recommendations to help you prepare. Before getting an Ellacor micro coring treatment, we recommend:
- If possible (and with approval from your doctor), stop taking blood-thinning medications and supplements for two weeks before your treatment date.
- Limit your exposure to direct sunlight in the weeks leading up to your treatment.
- Shave any excess facial hair on the treatment area (mustache or beard, if applicable) the day before getting Ellacor in the Bay Area
- Hold off on getting any invasive or minimally invasive aesthetic treatments for 2 weeks before your appointment for Ellacor.
Treatment
At Entre Nous Aesthetics, we use the Ellacor micro coring device to treat the mid to lower face. Each Ellacor treatment session is brief, especially considering the huge improvements it can affect. From start to finish, the Ellacor procedure takes only about 30 minutes.
Ellacor is not the most comfortable treatment. Most patients report experiencing some minor pain and discomfort, but we offer PRO-NOX—a fast-acting inhalable pain and anxiety reliever—to ensure the most comfortable Ellacor experience possible.
To administer the micro coring treatment, your experienced medical provider will use the Ellacor handpiece to target your facial wrinkles and loose skin. For enhanced precision, the device uses suction to hold the skin in place as the micro coring needles do their job.
Ellacor Aftercare
After getting Ellacor in the Bay Area, we strongly encourage you to follow any and all post-treatment instructions provided by your Entre Nous provider. The following instructions may vary slightly depending on the treatment area, the device settings, and the individual needs of the patient:
- Refrain from strenuous exercise or any activities that may cause excessive sweating until your micro-wounds have healed.
- While your micro-wounds are still open, refrain from applying makeup, waxing, shaving, or using exfoliating skincare products.
- Stay out of direct sunlight and apply sunscreen daily once the micro-wounds close up.
- Use a mild facial cleanser to gently cleanse your face twice daily (without scrubbing the treatment area)
- Avoid sleeping on your face while your skin is still healing
- Don’t pick or scratch at the affected areas
Recovery After Getting Ellacor in the Bay Area
Ellacor is a minimally invasive skin treatment, but it typically requires some social downtime (the time it takes you to feel comfortable around people). After getting Ellacor in the Bay Area, most of our patients at Entre Nous Aesthetics experience mild to moderate redness and swelling at the treatment site(s).
The amount of necessary downtime may vary from patient to patient, but most need about 3 to 5 days to recover before returning to work or their usual social activities.
How Is Ellacor Different From Microneedling?
While both minimally invasive treatments can be used for improving wrinkles and skin laxity, the main difference between Ellacor and RF microneedling is what the needles do during treatment.
The hollow Ellacor needles puncture and remove tiny amounts of dermal and epidermal tissue, and the needles used for RF microneeding do not remove any skin. Instead, the needles used in the Profound RF microneedling device puncture the skin and conduct radiofrequency heat deep into the tissue.
Ellacor vs Surgery
For a minimally invasive treatment, the Ellacor micro coring procedure can deliver dramatic skin tightening and wrinkle reduction. Patients with the most severe cases of skin laxity may benefit from surgery, especially if they want to take care of their loose skin all at once.
But surgery isn’t without downsides. The upfront costs are typically much higher, and the procedure comes with major risks and extensive downtime. Surgical skin tightening also tends to leave noticeable scars, and the results might not look natural.
Ellacor, on the other hand, is minimally invasive, less risky, requires minimal downtime, and delivers natural-looking results without scarring.
For patients with moderate skin laxity and moderate to severe wrinkles, Ellacor can be a fantastic choice. Many people don’t realize there are alternatives to cosmetic surgery that actually work.
