Revive Your Luscious Locks with PRP Hair Restoration in Menlo Park

Our hair is such an important part of our day-to-day lives. It’s one of the most visible ways we can show our personality and style on a daily basis, and also for special occasions.

If you’ve noticed your hair thinning, you may wonder what you can do about it. Most hair loss is caused by genetics (thank your parents), but hair loss can also stem from hormone changes, underlying health conditions or medications, like chemotherapy. It’s a problem that affects both men and women and results in lower confidence and discomfort for many people.

At Entre Nous, we believe in the power of aesthetic care to help people look and feel their best. PRP hair restoration in Menlo Park is an effective way to treat otherwise preventable hair loss, using the same technique as a PRP facial aka, the “vampire facial.” A spooky name, but stellar results!

While we cannot use PRP on patients who are completely bald, we can use it to stimulate hair growth in thinning hair or to speed along regrowth. For example, if you’re regrowing your hair after chemotherapy, you probably wouldn’t use PRP until after several months of your hair growing back on its own.

Booking a consultation with an expert aesthetician is a great first step to getting your hair and your confidence back. Let us show you the benefits of a PRP treatment!

What is PRP?

PRP stands for “platelet rich plasma,” which is created using a sample of the patient’s blood and is injected to promote healing. Athletes have been using it for years to heal injuries, and it’s also used with microneedling to promote healthier skin!

Plasma is a part of your blood that’s made from proteins that promote the growth of new cells. When it’s concentrated and re-injected into the skin, it signals the body to create new cells in that area.

How can PRP help my hair loss?

At first, it may not seem like hair loss is connected to cell growth, but it is! Our hair grows through cell division at the base of the hair follicle. When that cell division slows down, our hair stops growing.

Our hair actually grows in 3 stages, and PRP injections stimulate hair growth by prolonging the growth phase of the hair cycle. When the plasma is placed in areas where growth has slowed, it can reverse the hair loss.

It’s important to note that this is most effective for genetic or hormonal hair loss, and can’t necessarily overcome the effects of medically induced hair loss.

Because PRP uses your own blood, it harnesses your body’s natural healing power to thicken and strengthen your hair. It provides a jump start for your hair’s engine.

PRP hair restoration in Menlo Park: how does it work?

PRP hair restoration works like other PRP treatments. It should only be performed by a trained professional because PRP is a medical procedure. At Entre Nous, we work with the amazing Dr. Kim Rappaport for several of our injectable treatments.

Consultation

Every treatment plan at Entre Nous begins with an in-depth consultation where we get to know you as a person first, and a patient second. We’ll discuss your medical history, the reasons for your hair loss, and answer any questions you have about the PRP procedure. Using this information, we’ll design a treatment that’s built specifically for you to achieve the hair of your dreams.

Treatment

When you arrive for your appointment, we’ll show you to one of our clean and comfortable treatment rooms. Our trained medical provider will draw a small sample of your blood. Then they will prepare the sample for treatment by concentrating the plasma and separating it prior to injection.

After the sample is prepared, we inject the plasma into your scalp at specific points to help stimulate hair growth in those areas.

The entire treatment process usually takes about 1 hour, but you can go about your normal day after your procedure!

Next Steps

We usually recommend a series of 3 to 6 injections to bring about the best results. The number of PRP injections you need depends on your unique situation. Most patients start seeing thicker hair and new hair growth within a couple weeks of treatment—with full results visible in 3 to 6 months.

To optimize your results, your aesthetician will likely recommend topical treatments, supplements, and other at-home therapies to treat things that can contribute to hair loss.

PRP maintenance treatments will be necessary because, unfortunately, the results are not permanent when it comes to genetic hair loss.

How to protect your hair after PRP restoration in Menlo Park

It’s not possible to rewrite your genetic code to give you perfect hair for the rest of your life (at least not yet!) However, these tips can help you avoid preventable hair loss and maintain your results after your PRP treatment.  Having a good hair routine is as important as a regular skin care routine.

Learn about your hair

We don’t offer salon services at Entre Nous but we definitely think regular hair care is an important part of preventing hair loss. Talk with your stylist about your hair type and texture to learn the best ways to care for it.

Keep your scalp clean

When products and oils build up on your scalp, it can lead to follicle damage. And, as we know, damaged follicles can’t grow hair! Shampooing regularly can prevent this.

Be gentle with your hair.

Avoid tugging when you’re brushing or combing your hair. Detangler is your best friend! You’ll also want to limit the tension on your hair from being up in that super stylish pony or tight braids. Use heating tools sparingly.

Protect your hair from sunlight

Just like our skin, our hair is sensitive to sun exposure. Wearing your favorite wide-brimmed hat protects your hair from those UV rays!

Take supplements as directed

We have Nutrafol available at Entre Nous Aesthetics. Talk with your aesthetician about whether it would be a good addition to your hair care routine.
