A Botox Alternative In Menlo park? We’ve Got The Details

Botox Cosmetic is a household name for a reason. As the first neurotoxin to hit the market, it’s been around the longest and works. So there’s no one saying that Botox hasn’t earned its reputation as one of the leading wrinkle treatments.

But after being the lead for decades, it’s about time that Botox made way for a newer, longer-lasting neurotoxin. Entre Nous Aesthetics is excited to be one of the first providers to offer Daxxify, the latest Botox alternative in Menlo Park.

Why do we need a Botox alternative?

Two words: longer-lasting results

The results from your Botox injections will last 3 to 6 months. But Daxxify promises results of 9 months to a whole year in some patients.

That means fewer treatments

Because Daxxify’s results last longer, that means going in for your injections less often. Which means you get to spend more time enjoying yourself and not worrying about scheduling your next injectable appointment.

Plus, see results quicker

Botox can take about a week for you to see the results. Daxxify has been shown to be effective in as little as 1 day for some patients!

Also, Botox resistance

Not many patients get true Botox resistance, but it is possible that over time your body can develop antibodies that neutralize the effects. Having another neurotoxin in your tool belt means we can avoid that resistance.

Is Daxxify really that different from Botox?

Yes and no. Daxxify and Botox are both injectables made from the same botulinum toxin A.

The main difference is that Daxxify uses a peptide exchange method rather than the human serum albumin protein that Botox uses. Using peptides makes Daxxify bond better to your nerve endings which is how it maintains results for longer periods.

What is a peptide?

A peptide is a small chain of amino acids, essentially a smaller protein. Human serum albumin is a protein that’s found in human plasma and animal products. So, both Botox and Daxxify are using natural compounds, but the smaller peptides make it easier for Daxxify to get in close to your nerves and stay there.

How neurotoxins work

Botox and Daxxify both work by bonding to the nerve endings where they’re injected and relaxing the muscles. Wrinkles on the face are caused by the muscles that make our facial expressions, by relaxing those muscles we prevent wrinkles from getting deeper and can even make them disappear altogether.

What happens if I switch from Botox to Daxxify?

Even if you’ve been a diehard Botox fan for years, there’s no need to worry about the switch. Most of the time patients don’t notice any side effects from switching which neurotoxin they’re using. Unless you count quicker and longer-lasting results as a side effect 😏

Real talk though, there are some important things to keep in mind. First, Daxxify results will last longer, which means if for some reason you don’t like your results, you’ll have to wait that much longer for them to wear off and try again. That’s why Daxxify is great for those who have been using neurotoxins for a while and are ready to just experience the benefits longer.

Baby Botox is a great place to start if it’s your first time in the ring. You can use Daxxify even if it’s your first time, but you’ll want to make extra sure you go to an experienced injectables provider.

Is it possible to combine different neurotoxins?

Yes! It’s possible to combine different neurotoxins because they work similarly. Of course, you wouldn’t inject them in the exact same location. But different neurotoxins are FDA-approved for different areas of the face. Botox, surprising no one, is approved for the most uses but that’s due to it being around long enough to test it in different ways.

Can I combine Daxxify with other injectables?

Again, yes! Just like with Botox, it’s possible to combine Daxxify with other injectable treatments such as fillers or Kybella, to help you achieve overall facial rejuvenation.

Are there other alternatives to Botox besides Daxxify?

We offer both Dysport and Jeuveau at our office, 2 other neurotoxins that work similarly to Daxxify and Botox.

While they have a different function than neurotoxins, we can also use fillers strategically to help lift certain areas of the face, which can have the added benefit of reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

If you’re looking for a non-injectable treatment, we’ve got those too! Here are some of our favorite wrinkle treatments:

Microneedling

Profound skin tightening, or RF microneedling, can help reduce sagging skin which can alleviate the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The radio-frequency (RF) energy and needles work together to stimulate collagen production to create smoother, tighter skin. When your skin is firmer, it’s less likely to wrinkle.

Micro-coring

Ellacor with micro-coring is like if microneedling went to the gym. During the treatment, the device uses hollow needles to remove micro cores of the dermis layer of skin. The percentage of skin that is removed and the treatment depth can be customized based on your desired results. Then the skin quickly heals and realigns to close the cores, creating tighter, younger-looking skin.

Laser Skin Treatments

Laser and light treatments can be a great way to fight signs of aging. While they can come with a little more downtime than an injectable, the results are long-lasting and they treat more than just wrinkles. Fractional laser resurfacing with our CO2 laser can tackle even deep wrinkles and lines by tightening the skin and boosting collagen production.

For something on the lighter side, our BBL photofacial doesn’t have any downtime but handles signs of aging as well as sun damage and blemishes.

Tips for maintaining the results from any of our wrinkle treatments

One of the best ways to combat signs of aging is to focus on prevention, which starts with your regular at-home skincare routine. Your skin needs specific care based on its type, your lifestyle, and its function.

It’s important to have a solid skincare routine as the foundation of any aesthetic treatment that you receive. It boosts your skin’s health and makes it more receptive to treatment.

Your skin is your body’s largest organ and gets its structure from two proteins: collagen and elastin. Together, these proteins give your skin its volume and elasticity, or its ability to keep its shape. As we age, our body slows down the production of these two proteins, which is why our skin starts to sag and wrinkle.

Medical-grade skincare products provide more potent ingredients and better results than over-the-counter store-bought products.  There are 3 things you need to be doing for your skin on a daily basis to keep it happy and glowing.

1.  Cleanse

Cleansing your skin is step one, for obvious reasons. Clearing away impurities and excess oil can prevent acne and dull skin and allow your other skincare products to penetrate more deeply.

2. Moisturize

If you’re using other products, your moisturizer is the last thing you put on. It seals in all the goodness and protects your skin. Our bodies are mostly made of water, and that includes our skin! So keeping your skin moisturized is part of keeping your skin healthy.

3. Sun protection

The sun is responsible for 90% of skin changes. Protecting your skin from the sun is an essential part of caring for it. Using an SPF of at least 30 daily is one of the best ways to protect your skin. Yes, even on cloudy days!

If you do at least these 3 things, you’re setting your skin up for success and it will have the added benefit of helping make your Daxxify or Botox injections last longer.

Our skin care experts would be happy to help you figure out which products would help you to customize your routine based on your skin’s unique profile.
